Women’s uprising in the Arab World

No matter what you can say about Facebook, it is showing me, yet another time, how people gather and are awakened by a humanly wonderful cause; {the uprising of Women in the Arab world} with almost 45.000 likes on its Facebook page.

What is the cause about?

I would say it is a magical mirror showing a new and shifting image of women in the Arab World, by showing pictures of people (women & men, all ages, colours, religion and nationality) holding a statement explaining why they are WITH the UPRISING of the WOMEN in the ARAB world!

Thousands of statements, written in arabic, english, french, and translated in so many languages by other readers, on paper, cardboards, by hand, printed.. Veiled women, young men, daughters, mothers, Europeans… all making more or less the same statement, voicing the need to change the image of the women in the WORLD.

Here are just a few statements..

Egyptian Film Director Amr Salama: I am with the uprising of women in the Arab world. How can we pretend that we’re fighting dictatorship, when each of us is a dictator with his mother or sister or wife or daughter? If we treat them like slaves they shall only bring up slaves.

Lynn from Lebanon: أن مع إنتفاضة المرأة في العالم العربي لأن لما تم إغتصابي، قالت لي أمي:”أوعا تحكي… بتفضحينا!!”,
I am with the uprising of women in the Arab world because when I got raped, my mother said: “Don’t you say a word about it, you’ll bring us disgrace!”

The Tunisian actress and Goodwill ambassador Hend Sabry

Reem from Egypt: I am with the uprising of women in the Arab world because I am sick of a society that judges my morality based on a veil i put on my head

Follow the facebook page, share it, like it.. voices are only growing, and it will give women the desire and courage to stand up for themselves, for their rights, for their daughters rights, which at the end of the day, should never have been an issue, but logical and natural behaviour….
